RESOLUTION DEMANDING CONTINUED SALE AND DISTRIBUTION OF COVID-19 VACCINES AND RELATED mRNA VACCINES IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA

WHEREAS The Brevard County Democratic Executive Committee is committed to the rule of law and recognizes the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act and subsequent amending statutes as codified into Title 21 Chapter 9 of the United States Code authorizes the Food and Drug Administration as the legal approval authority for drugs to be considered safe and effective;


WHEREAS The Brevard County Democratic Executive Committee is committed to the exercise of personal freedom of choice in regard to medical decisions, including when and if to take lawfully approved medicines, drugs, vaccinations and other medical procedures;

WHEREAS The Brevard County Democratic Executive Committee rejects attempts to deny personal freedom of choice in regard to medical decisions as an unlawful infringement of personal liberty prohibited by the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution which provides fundamental “right to privacy” and the SECTION 23, Right of Privacy clause of the Florida Constitution;


WHEREAS The Brevard County Democratic Executive Committee relies on science based organizations such as the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization to provide current health crisis information;


WHEREAS The Brevard County Democratic Executive Committee acknowledges that medical professionals and not politicians should provide recommendations on healthcare;


WHEREAS The Brevard County Democratic Executive Committee acknowledges that vaccine misinformation can harm the health of individuals and society, as people may make decisions based on false claims;


WHEREAS the mRNA technology is not only a safe and effective, but also promises a rapid response to future outbreaks of novel viruses thereby saving countless lives;


WHEREAS in addition to saving lives, vaccinations enable the United States to safely operate businesses and schools, thereby allowing safe and normal societal operations;


WHEREAS Florida has the third highest COVID deaths in the US, following California and Texas;


WHEREAS the United States’ long-standing vaccine safety system ensures that vaccines are as safe as possible. Currently, the United States has the safest vaccine supply in its history. Millions of children safely receive vaccines each year;


WHEREAS vaccines can prevent infectious diseases that once killed or harmed many infants, children, and adults;


WHEREAS COVID–19 and other medically recommended vaccines have been proven safe and effective in significantly reducing infection, serious illness, and death;


WHEREAS individuals with certain medical conditions that prohibit them from getting vaccinated may also be especially susceptible to COVID–19, making it even more important that those around them get vaccinated;


WHEREAS COVID–19 and other medically recommended vaccines have undergone the most intensive safety monitoring in United States history, including established and new safety monitoring systems created by the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention;


WHEREAS COVID–19 vaccines were evaluated in tens of thousands of diverse participants in clinical trials and met the Food and Drug Administration’s rigorous scientific standards for safety, effectiveness, and manufacturing quality needed to support emergency use authorization under section 564 of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act;


WHEREAS vaccinations are especially essential in industries that require close contact, such as health care settings, schools and daycares, service industries, and congregate living facilities;


WHEREAS vaccinating educators and school support staff helps keep staff and students safe, many of whom are not yet age-eligible to be vaccinated themselves;


WHEREAS vaccines are readily available, and easily accessible;


WHEREAS there is no data or evidence that vaccines can give an individual COVID–19, cause infertility, include microchips, alter DNA, or contain fetal tissue; and

WHEREAS vaccinated individuals help ensure unvaccinated individuals in their immediate vicinity and communities are less likely to contract COVID–19:


Therefore, Be It Resolved: The Brevard County Democratic Executive Committee
(1) acknowledges the safety and efficacy of COVID–19 and other medically recommended vaccines;
(2) recognizes the importance of getting the COVID–19 and other medically recommended vaccines in order to curb community spread and prevent sickness and death; and
(3) encourages all eligible individuals in the United States to receive a COVID–19 and other medically recommended vaccines and to continue to follow guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.


Be It Further Resolved:
On behalf of the preservation of the human race, the Brevard County Democratic Executive Committee demands that Governor DeSantis and the state legislature protect and preserve the sale and distribution of Covid-19 vaccines and all related vaccines in the state of Florida, and that the state Attorney General prohibit seizure of any Covid-19 vaccines and mRNA vaccines in the state of Florida.
